The Linguistic Data Consortium for Indian Languages (LDC-IL) invites applications from eligible candidates to participate in a two-week long Summer School in Computational Linguistics.
Eligible candidates are invited to create their academic profile on this site and submit their application to be cnsidered as a valid candidate for participation in the summer school.
1. Get Hands-On experience of working on the various tasks of Computational Linguistics, specially preparation of language data required in these fields.
2. Listen to the experts in the different sub-areas within Computational Linguistics/Natural Language Processing.
3. Experience procedures involved in working with the language data for use in Language Technology Application Development
People having a Masters degree in Linguistics or allied discplines (e.g. Indian languages, Applied Linguistics, Computer Science with a strong command over languages and linguistic structures, etc) or a higher degree can apply for it. Master's pursing candidates can also apply. Working professionals and academicians in the related areas are also welcome to apply.
Preferance would be given to candidates with a higher degree. Efforts will be made to select participants knowing at least one Indian language, apart from English. For each scheduled languages, two candidates would be selected.
Participants will be selected based on their mother tongue, working experience, and area of research.
In case of number of participants growing higher, a written test may be conducted to select them.
The participating candidates performing better in the tasks assigned may have the chance of working on a related area within the Institute.
Candidates need to bring in their own laptops with a minimum configuration of Windows/Linux, 4GB RAM, i5 processors/500 GB storage space.

Please note that a better write-up during submission will help you secure a seat in this programme. The number of seat is limited to 40.
Moderate accommodation on sharing basis would be provided by the Institute at no cost to the participants. Travel expenses would be reimbursed to the participants upon submission of the bills/tickets. Travel expenses in 3AC train tickets/bus etc. as per the eligibility of the candidates, following the norms of the Institute would be admissible.
